An Open Day is a one-day Association event. Each member club holds an Open Day once a year except when hosting one of the major tournaments. Only qualified WGANC amateur members belonging to an 18-Hole Ladies Group may participate in an Association event. These include Open Days and major Association tournaments.
Pre-entries:
The Open Day Chair or Captain is requested to e-mail, by a pre-determined date, a pre-entry form to the Director in Charge of the Open Day. This form should include players’ names and GHIN numbers for all players entered. Players are requested to pre-enter events in accordance with the procedures at their respective clubs. Members may access the Open Day information on the WGANC Master Calendar.
Acceptance:
The Director in Charge will notify the Open Day Chair (or Captain) of all entries accepted (and those not accepted) no less than ten days prior to the Open Day date.
Eligibility:
To be eligible, a player must have a USGA Handicap Index of 40.4 or less using the posted revision date. A player must be an amateur golfer. In the event of oversubscribed fields, entries will be equalized by clubs whenever possible, and then a blind draw for places will be made.
Visiting golfers from private clubs belonging to an association may be invited to play in an Open Day upon notification to the Director in Charge.
Junior golfers are eligible to compete if they are either an honorary or active member of the WGANC club’s 18-hole ladies group.
Cancellations:
If a player cancels without a substitute after the Last Cancellation Date that is indicated on the Letter of Invitation, she must pay for lunch and cart. She may play in subsequent Open Days only when payment has been received by the Director in Charge.
No-Shows:
A player who does not cancel and does not play must pay for lunch and cart and will be ineligible to play in Open Days for six months from the date payment is received. To avoid being a “No-Show”, players may cancel by calling the Director in Charge prior to the day of the Open Day. On the day of the Open Day ONLY, players may contact the Pro Shop of the host club to cancel.
Entry fee for Open Day is $3.00 unless otherwise specified.
Starting times:
Letter of Invitation states time for shotgun events.
Open Day details are available on the Master Calendar. Click on the event information in the Calendar and you will see the details, including the letter of invitation as soon as it is available.
